Biography

Flutist Ju Hee Kang has been hailed as “A solo virtuoso display carried off brilliantly by Ju Hee Kang on flute.”(Portland Press Herald). Praised for her powerful sound, natural stage presence and energy, Ms.Kang is an active musician, teacher and soloist.

With her great passion of Chamber musician, she has performed with various ensembles in numerous concerts throughout the U.S., Romania, China and Korea. performed J.S. Bach Brandenburg concertos at Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, Mozart Flute Concerto in G Major at Cooperstown Summer Music Festival as an artist. She has been invited many festival and ensembles including Bowdoin International Music Festival, recipient of full scholarship as an Kaplan Fellow, Astral Artist and Sound Icon.

Winner of the master class presented by Weill music institute at Carnegie hall, she played for Emmanuel Pahud, principal flutist at Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Ms. Kang has won top prizes in numerous competitions, American Prize, Alexander & Buono International Competition, The Lillian Fuchs Chamber Music Competition, the Pusan Music Competition, Yonsei University Competition, the Ewha-Kyunghang Competition and the Music Journal Competition among others.

Dr.Kang received her undergraduate degree from Yonsei University with Shin Jung Oh. Recipient of a Presidential Award, Ju Hee Kang holds the Master of Music degree at Manhattan School of Music with Linda Chesis. She recently completed her doctoral study(DMA) at Boston University.

Ju Hee grew up in Korea and began her musical studies on the flute at age 9. She had her first official solo recital in 2011 which she was nominated as a ‘Hyundai rising star concert.’ in her native Korea. Also, she has made concerto performed with the New York Summer Music Festival Orchestra, the Yonsei String Orchestra,Yonsei Sinfonietta, and the Romaniam Radio Chamber Orchestra, among others. She has performed at verity places; Lincoln Center in New York, Trinity Center in Philadelphia, Carnegie hall in NYC, The National Flute Association Festival (2008,San Diego), Se-Jong center for the Performing Arts, Yun-Ju-Yong Hall Seoul in Korea, Jewish home Life care of Manhattan, Corpus Christi Church at Manhattan. With a great passion for chamber music and community outreach, she is an active artist member of The Volunteer Musicians for the Arts (VMA) and Artistic Director of SONE, Soloists of New England.
